What's Your Favorite Brand of Beer?
by tfsm ini know this is slightly off-topic but i find alot of the discussion here somewhat depressing and most of it is far too cerebral for me.
i (obviously) live in america and i'm a big fan of beer.
light, dark, lager, ale, whatever.

do you? ----Yes do you do it out loud? ---- No and the biggie, do you answer yourself? ---- Yes. Usually I'll just say something to myself and then my other self will either respond, "Okay" or "You're an idiot." And then myself either gets offended or laughs (but not out loud). I also have really long conversations with people I know in my head, with me playing both parts. I also have an imaginary friend, but that's personal. She doesn't know about me.

My Evil Bio....
by Justice-One inthe details of my life are quite inconsequential.
my father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from belgium, who was a jehovah's witness.
he had low-grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery.

slip of the tongue of elder
by DannyBloem in.
this morning the speaker was late and they had to change the wachtower study with the public talk.. the young elder introducing this, was maybe a bit nervous of this happening (although it is certainly not the first time this year), and told that the public intercourse of the wachttower study would be held first, instead of the public discourse.

i heard a speaker once say " jehovah shitting on this throne" ..
Perhaps he was just doing his Sean Connery impression.

"Slogging" - the top speed at which JWs go door to door
by LovesDubs ini know this topic has been beat to death probably in here...but i was watching some of the "friends" going down my street the other day (and they categorically skip my house because satan and i are tight you know) and it reminded me so much of how much i hated going door to door and how i prayed when it was my turn to knock that nobody was home.
and we walked down those streets with our little territory cards in hand, making anywhere from meticulous to rediculous notes about the house we were just at...and moving our feet as slowly as we possibly could to maintain a forward motion at all, to eat up the time we were forced to (yes i said forced to) report every month.
field service was what you called the time you spent between when you were at mcdonalds and dunkin donuts.

Global Warming Warming Politics Violent Kennedy Sex
by FOSHLL innow that i have your attention, i would like to bring your attention to this very simple, very irrefutable, very discussable, truth.
climates and claims
when one is to use the blanket, one would eventually overacclimate one's self to the warmth provided by said thread tortilla, thereby prompting one to waddle to the air conditioner and turn on such an ice factory.

Wow. This is tough. I've been where you are now (less than a year ago). It was one of the most enlightening and at the same time, horrible experiences of my life. I wouldn't have missed it for anything - I just wished it hadn't happened when my mom was still so . . . not young, but definitely not old (59).
I'll be thinking about you, Merry. Don't worry too much about being witnessed to. I imagine they'll be too busy shunning you to do that. In my own case, I was friendly to everyone and if they chose to not respond to my greeting, well, that was on them. It's really hard not to be distracted by the rude behavior of others, but just try to remember that you're there for your mom. I hope your time with her is everything you need it to be.
Take care (((((Merry))))) -

I agree, especially the dinners between the alcohol, tobacco and firearms people. I wish I could argue like that guy.

"Awakenings", with Robin Williams.
Ditto. After I saw it the first time, I went out and found all the books by Oliver Sachs (the doctor Robin Williams' character is based on). Fascinating reading about neurological disorders, especially "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat". Seriously - he did.
My all-time favorite tearjerker: "Moulin Rouge"
Most recently: "Brokeback Mountain"
